RYA RUG "SPOTLIGHT" BY VERNER PANTON, 1960's

Rya rug "SPOTLIGHT"  :

Produced by Unika Vaev, Copenhagen, Denmark until 1969

The rug is made of very dense pure wool threads (« rya »).

The beautiful weave pattern consists of a base and grid using black and purple threads with cells filled with a spectrum of blues, from a rich and vibrant purple in the external rectangular borders, to a light sky blue, made of blue and white threads, in the central concentric circles. The delicate color changes make full use of the « rya» technic and creates the « spotlight » effect, where the name of this model derivates from. 

Dimensions : 90 cm x 170 cm.

Some wears due to normal use and age, but no defaults or missing threads.

This item can be used as a rug on the floor, or hanged on wall for decoration : in that instance lugs are present at the back.
